Kafila Hotel Ghadamis

... to walk up to watch the sunset and they went off hooning around and showing off how fast they could go up and down the huge sand dunes and racing each other. We also went to a lookout where we could see Algeria and Tunisia. The local desert people are the Tuareg and very welcoming. They have some lovely handicrafts so we came back with colourful food covers, a bright blue scarf , hand sown leather boots colourfully embroidered and a decorated camel saddle!

... completely stranded. A strange feeling in these moments: calm and peace, but something different from serenity. Like a mix between arriving at the top of a mountain and endlessly gazing at a fire. Also fell under fascination, in the windy days, for the waves of sand, running up or down the dunes. I spent 3 months there, got back home on december 23rd...
