... in Tokyo, and to get an idea of the amount of people running around...think of the population of California stuffed into a space a little smaller than Hawaii. <br><br>Walking around was not good for my self esteem though: looking at all the skinny, trendy Japanese girls I felt like a fat bum! When I die, I want to be reincarnated in my next life as an uber-trendy Japanese girl, complete with the long flowing brown hair ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan banila... bullet train) to Kyoto. This is definitely the way to travel in Japan. We had reserved seats and arriving at the platform we waited at our alloted space on the platform to board the train whilst the guards (very smart - complete with white gloves!) organised the train and its passengers. It is more like boarding an aircraft than a train and on-board there are even airline style hostesses serving drinks and food. En route we caught our first ...
Tokyo, Japan candcthai... bus stop to go to where else, Tokyo Disneyland! Yes, I'm so happy then to be able to go to Disneyland. Back then I think it was every kid's fantasy to step into this magical and "happiest place on earth." Of course upon entering, there was the "mandatory" picture-taking with the Cinderella castle in the background. Then we were off to exploring every nook and crany of place.
Tokyo, Japan the_travellerOha-nami, cherry blossom season, was here and now it's gone -- quick, glorious 2 weeks of natural beauty to behold in and around Tokyo. For me, this meant strolling through never-visited-before neighborhoods to see parks with plenty of sakura trees, or passing by a neighborood with plety of these brilliant plants, too. Nature doesn't force anyone to have a picnic, but the Japanese have the right idea: Sakura time is picnic time. Enjoy the great ...
Tokyo, Japan odevened... financial situations was an interesting proposition, we found phones (all the same one, in different colours) which met our needs and also suited our price range (cheap... as cheap as possible). The call plan we're on is fantastic - we can call any Softbank phone in Japan between 1am and 9pm everyday for free - as well as free sms, and cheap email - email from phones! I'm not sure we'll ever use it, but WOW! Anyone who saw my old phone in ...
Shinjuku, Japan spacepup... Being optimistic, I'm just glad that Tokyo isn't in Southern Japan! I can't imagine having to walk in rain worse than what I did, for days at a time. I can't hide it - I really despise commutes in the rain. No matter what umbrella I use, I end up wet anyway, and that usually leaves me cold and fairly miserable during the day. But there are some bright spots about rainy days. I think the rain enhances Japanese cuteness. The women carry adorable umbrellas and sometimes ...
Tokyo, Japan markenhylda... Shimbashi, near the waterfront of Tokyo Bay, where we changed to the privately run line out to Odaibu island. This line was a peoplemover like system, running only on tires, without guide rails. Electrical pick-ups were on the side of the 6 car trains, that resembled a rubber tire metro train. Unfortunately this relatively new system wasn`t too good, as it wasn`t too fast and was too small the massive amounts of people that wanted to use it. A monorail would`ve been a much better choice. Thanks, Tom Pacy
