    ... to go back to the hotel to rest. It was interesting seeing the Art Nouveau and wooden buildings that are in the newer parts of town (from 1600 on!!!), but the traffic was horrendous!     About 0500 we were wakened by a thunderstorm. Not a real humdinger of a thunderstorm, but enough to have us counting the seconds between the lightning and the thunder, and wondering why nobody brought the towels in before going to bed. Too late now. We were up and running in plenty of time for our 'two in one' tour which left from the camping at 0930ish.     ... and Latvian food. It is safe to say that I am over-piroshkied and over-pelemniyed. But Riga was honestly an amazing place and being able to speak the language and connect with so much of my family's culture made it extra special.
