      ... the awards ceremony since we wouldn't have understood what was happening anyway and hopped on the bus to get us back to the bus terminal. We hadn't had lunch yet so we patronized the bakery in the bus terminal and ate lunch on the benches amid the passengers waiting for their bus.

I prepared in my head that I was going to say "last week, we came, you called, we return" and point to us and them where appropriate.
