Gutes altes Hotel
Pure luxury at Christmas
Stayed here over xmas 05 and absolutely loved it. Staff were so friendly, food was great and the hotel itself was beautiful. We stayed in an executive suite which was amazing and well worth the extra money especially because of the fabulous executive lounge that served free food and drink all day. They put on a brilliant Christmas dinner with carol singers, a santa etc. Had some of the best back massages of my life in the spa. Visited some of the other hotels which all seemed very niceand luxurious but for me JW had a bit of extra character.
I stayed in the JW Marriott for a week at the start of November with my Fiance to celebrate our engagement. I have to say we both really enjoyed staying at the hotel. The rooms were big and bright and the concierge was absoluteley briiliant to us with tips on where to go and when. Will definitly look up the JW the next time I am in Dubai.
Good old hotel
I have been in the JW a few times in Dubai and with pleasure. The rooms are big, clean, well equiped and the restaurants are good, the Lebanese restaurant is one of the best in town so they say and the amazing Atrium makes the hotel unique (Gaylord Opryland Nashville look-a-like roof) and the Germany copy of the Hofbrauhaus is great ! The HB beer (weizen) is fresh from "fass", better that than the standard beers which you can get in any hotel. The hotel is an old hotel but it has some of charm with in the evening Ferrari's, Bentley's and Lamborchini's parking in front, always nice to look at !
Dubai is gorgeous enough, it doesn't need the JW but thank goodness it exists. The rooms are large. The beds are comfortable. The internet connection is easy and affordable. Nice robes....nice tub. The fruit changeover at 1900 was nice so was the bed turndown. There's a steak restaurant (bring a jacket), a sports bar (go for the burger ad play pool undtil the soccer game starts) and a mall connected (haggling is expected and respected).. The bar in the courtyard is a keeper. Just stay here and you'll see. Great location and price (under 200 a night).
J.W.'s Steakhouse is a Must!
Hotel goes above and beyond! Everything in the Hotel is 5-star.
Now, as for J.W.'s.....this is one *OUTSTANDING* steakhouse. Pricy and worth every single cent! From start to finish, nothing is lacking. Huge leather chairs, huge tables (with your name on a placard with "bull" horns). Wine selection immpecable. My first trip in Dec 2005, I took a party of 12 with me. I was so impressed and overwhelmed that on my next trip to Dubai in Jan 2005, I brought a party of 22 with me. There is no better steak dinner in Dubai! Look no further than JWs.
This is one of the most amazing hotels I have visited. The hotel itself is vast, there are various restaurants and bars both the Italian and sports bar are excellent. The hotel is very grand and the service excellent. All the staff are very friendly. The rooms are very large and have all the extra's that make a trip special. The only downside to this hotel is location as it is a fair distance to the creek, the hotel arranges taxi's and buses to the beach every day or there is the roof top swimming pool. Taxi's are very easy to get and are the best way to get around the city.
Big & Beautiful
Location: Dubai is a small city anyway, but JW Marriott is a bit far from city attractions.
Room: Big & Beautiful, loved it.
Staff: very friendly.
Facilities: this hotel has some of the most famous restaurants in Dubai.

After a long flight from Sydney to Dubai, 14 hours, I meet Kim at the baggage carousel. Kim flew in from Perth arriving 20 minutes before me. My flight came in at 5.30am to be greeted with 31 degrees. That's a shock, Christchurch was 10 degrees when I left. Our first drama happened when we arrived at our hotel to be told our reservation had been …
We went down two breakfast early, since we were being picked up at 7:50 am. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast again. Today was our trip to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. This was an all-day tour with Arabian Adventures again. We were picked up along with another couple, and boarded a minivan that already had a couple onboard. The six of us were …
We arrived in Dubai early. We landed at 12:45 pm, instead of the 1:40 pm scheduled time. This was the reason we were not able to finish the last movie we were watching:( Mind you, we both had some sleep time. It wasn't movies nonstop. We were in row 71, and they had to first clear the upper deck of the plane before the lower deck could move …
The next day we went to the Atlantis water park and the different Souk's in the afternoon. The water park was a 20-30min cab ride out to the man made palm and was tonnes of fun. When we got there we quickly realised that not wearing thongs (Jonny forgot his) in 45 degree heat was a recipe severely burnt feet..after buying $45 thongs (yes everything …
The following is a blog on our trip to Europe via Dubai, capturing some of the highlights. Flights We started our trip with getting to the airport 4 hours early to make full use of the Qantas business lounge, to find out that it was closing 15mins after we got there. After a quick champagne we waited around for the remaining time until our flight …
