... After walking through the market we went to a newish shopping complex for dinner at a teppenyaki restaurant before going to a Carrefour supermarket to buy food for our bus journey. We found bread, butter, proper cheese (dairy products, long time no see, thank you french supermarket) and tomatoes, bring on sandwiches for lunch! Then it was back to our apartment for an early night, travelling can be very tiring! Hours on the train: 253 Countries visited: ...

... mall. Our apartment was somewhere above the mall, we knew, but it was a huge place and we had to make enquiries of a number of people before being directed in through an unmarked door and sent up to the 13th floor. Of course, to counter that, there is still the usual non-stop honking of horns, which may be a good thing now so that you are aware when a scooter is speeding up behind you when you are walking on the footpath.

I think Kunming is quite a lovely city, even though there is not much to do or see. There are ...

... cooler here; the name Kunming actually translates as 'The city of eternal springtime’ and we can definitely vouch that it has a lovely climate, it is about 26 degrees here rather than 37 like it was in Vietnam. We’ve also noticed that there are hardly any Western travelers here; China is so huge that most of its tourists actually come from within the country itself, accordingly they don’t really rely on Western tourism like the other Asian ...
