Getting to Dublin: "It's all the wife!"

... Italian dinner, we finally made our way to the gate...which was again about a kilometer beyond the "lounge..." We again saw very few people. When we finally got to the "gate" area we actually had to wait and wait and wait to find out which "gate" we were going to. Finally about 5 minutes before we were supposed to board we got our "gate," but the agents didn't arrive for another 10...at which point we still weren't sure whether or not we were ...

Dublin - Day 3: "History Dork"

... that a section of roof of one of the local hospitals had collapsed. And the forecast was for continued rain all day. Joy!

We made our usual stop at Wright’s for breakfast. This time we chose heartier fare – scrambled eggs, ham, and hash browns + 3 drinks; total €13.00 – quite a deal. We carried our trays to the seating area across the aisle and chose a table near the back wall. A few minutes later, I saw a man walk alongside the railing that enclosed ...

... all blame, but most of the mistakes made on my part were due to the deficient road signage in both Scotland and Ireland. Many of the few signs that are actually in existence have so many advertisements for hotels and such that you can not even figure out what road you are currently on. They may want to fix that.

I tend to drink extraordinary amounts of water, so we were forced to stop in the quaint lakeside village of Mount ...

May The Road Rise To Meet You

... landed, bought a Dublin Pass (for discounts) and took the bus to Trinity College. The college is beautiful. The hostel that a friend of Mom's reccommended is called "Oliver St. John Gogarty". It's in an area called Temple Bar which is a famous area of Dublin. It's connected to a pub and a restaurant and we really enjoyed staying there. The staff was friendly, they had free breakfast, and they weren't too expensive. It rained a bit while we were there, so we adopted the Irish ...

First stop Ireland

... Belfast. We went to the Falls Road and the Shankle Road - evidence of the conflict between Catholics and Protestannts sill there with murals, barricades and barbed wire. The protestans have banners, flags and red, white and blue paint on the curbs lots of Orange Lodge Halls around. We also drove up to Stormount (the Parliamount house) and then had a drink in a pub and farewell to Marianne. The hostel was adequate but there was a lot of noise from the street. Didn't sleep too well.

All The Best of Dublin In A Day

... hype surrounding it. It is quite a remarkable melding of literature and art.

After viewing the Book of Kells, we went into the library itself. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Here were row after row of bookshelves that reached from the floor to the roof in an area at least 100 yards in length. The whole thing was capped with a curved wooden roof that added a dramatic tone to the building. It was easily the most impressive library I've been in. I even liked it ...
