Last time we were in London 8 years ago we saw a Starbucks and made a bee line for it thinking how much we had missed our American coffee. We were sadly mistaken, even Starbucks made weak coffee. Since then Rick Riordan and I have talked about London coffee and he has a friend from here that told him the coffee has improved. The morning following our arrival we found a Starbucks and were ...
London, England, United Kingdom zumwalt... we finally ended up in some random mixed scene dance club that only played 50's and 60's music...well...let me just say...we tore up the dance floor...flipping...jiving...twisting and of course shouting all over the place...anyone with in arms length was pulled into a dizzying partner dance...If Mary was So You Think You Can Dance had been here she would have been screaming as us for being on the Hot Tamale Train!! No Kidding! Finally...around 2:30 we realized we needed to get ...
London, England, United Kingdom whoisjohngaltHi All,
It's about 8.15pm here on Sunday (making it about 6.15am Monday for you) and I'm just updating for you all before I head off for an early night. Departed Melbourne at 11.55pm on Saturday 13th. Plane left right on time and I was in an isle seat with 2 spare seats next to me! Got the meal pretty quickly and I got my dairy free meal first.
Dinner: Fish (hake I think) and Vegies, Salad (which I didn't eat because it was drenched in ...
... because of the ear plugs!) and then him coming in! Off to a great start indeed....I assured him that I would be out in 5 minutes--more like 45--and so he left. I hurriedly tried to re-pack my bags and get dressed to head out and greet the day. Glad to be leaving that hostel, but nervous about which one was waiting for me that night, I headed off towards the underground station across the street and zipped off to the city. I emerged at Picadilly circus ...
London, England, United Kingdom mariaapalermoWell ... here I am at the start of my African adventure. Notice the 'African' part ... as yes, thanks to the minor issue with machetes, voting scandals and guns in Kenya I am now flying to Uganda to start my trip. The plan is to meet with the couple (Tiddy and Martin) who I am meant to be staying with in Kenya, at Entebbe airport (Uganda) on Saturday to make a plan on what we shall do until the situation in Kenya is safe enough to enter. For the start of this ...
London, United Kingdom lucyireland... stories about London weather. When we returned our room was ready. Our hotel- Hotel Enrico- is on a strip of inexpensive hotel/.hostels on Warwick Way in Westminster. It is a tiny- about 6 or seven rooms and a few bathrooms- no elevator. Although we booked a shared bathroom room we ended up with a room with its own bathroom which is smaller than our bathroom was in our Japan apartment- you can hardly shut the door while you are ...
London, United Kingdom jenfifi... our friends Maro and Paschalis who live in the suburbs of London. New plan. The program is to have day trips instead, and return home late in the evenings. The flooding continues and it gets worse and worse. We see people on T.V. desperately trying to save their belongings. So, after a full breakfast the following morning we leave for the city of BATH. The trip is pleasant, and we chat throughout the way.
London, England, United Kingdom greekcypriot... at the reggae stands. The other market we checked out was Spitalfields market. This one was a little higher class...nothing was 1 pound, and no one was yelling (in other words, kinda boring!). But they had very nice hand-made stuff, from jewelry to clothing to knick-knacks. The homemade ethnic foods and bread, cheeses, olives and desserts looked amazing too. After the markets we visited Greenwich, home of the prime meridian. The town itself is quite ...
London, United Kingdom vagabonderz... doubt! Michael didn't want to shop, and once on the tube said he was going to go to the "Southern" tube stop to go see the Globe Theater. I said Ok, I was beat and have been here writing to you since. It is 12:35 now, and he should be showing up shortly. We'll change, and be off to the theater for the rest of the day! Exciting! More later! Michael returned and we changed for the rest of the day.. off to see "Sunday in the Park with George", which ...
