Dublin, Ireland - Day 1

Lets just say our wonderful airplane experience of nearly pure bliss was followed by a nearly pure meltdown mode with the kids. It was half funny, and half ... not. All four of us turned in to zombies for the first half of the day as we tried to fight off the jetlag bummer. The goal was to stay up all day and then crash ********ight, leaving us refreshed and on track with the new time zone tomorrow. We actually have did fairly well. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Quick adventure story. We l...

We didn't realsie when we booked, but it is the Dublin Marathon today. Makes for hell with the traffic and getting around. We went to the airport bus stop (going to collect the car) and found that even though the street wasn't closed, they were not picking up here today. So once again walking with our bags, though dublin to the next stop they said they were picking up at. We waited for half an hour before an italian couple hailed a cab, and were explaining to us that they had been waiting for...

Up early and off to see the sights. We started with a walk around Trinity College, nice place - we were hoping to see the book of Kells, but it turns out that in the winter season it is only open for 2 hours every day, and that was at midday (it was 9am). So we decided to see what else we could see. Headed up to O'Connell St for a look at the spire. It is a very impressive shiny metal spire, that you can see from most of Dublin, in the middle of the street. It is there to show that Dublin is ...

Great time was had by all

from A TripAdvisor Member
I will be going to the Jurys hotel this weekend as i do every Jan because i have never had a bad room or bad service. As for the food, ive only ever had breakfast there and that was fine. I admit that if you have a room at the front you do get an early morning wake up call on a sunday morning as the church bells ring. I found that rather nice though. Right near the temple bar and shopping centre, Jurys hotel was perfect for me. I have stayed in better hotels but i cant complain for the price. Overall a good time aws had by all.

Good Location/Average Hotel

from notparishilton
Very average hotel. I suppose you are paying for location and not luxury. The bells are annoying, but survivable. Front desk staff were good. Even advised me to call them to be connected (for free) to an 800 phone number, otherwise calling directly from roon would incur a per minute charge. Bar was good. I would give this hotel a 6.5 (out of 10).

Not Great

from HT1
Where can I start? Dirty rooms - blood on the sheets! Bathroom door broken. Breakfast - not sure it deserves that title.

Central location but not the best area at night.

Has an adjoining car park and can take three in a room - the only advantages.

Other Jurys Inn much better.

The Bells, The Bells

from Adam_F
The hotels everything you want....

But, if you're there on a stag weekend or hen party, then beware....

sunday morning is the worst. Because the church is opposite the bells start and it feels like they're never going to stop!!!

Part from that, wasn't the best hotel, but at the same time, by far, its not the worst either!!

Great hotel, great location

We stayed at the Jurys Christchurch for 3 nights, November 2003. It was a great hotel, very clean and in a great location. Just a short walk from the City Centre, Temple Bar, River Liffey, etc. Tour buses stop about 100 yds away, and are a great way to see & learn more about Dublin. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The a bare & restaurant are very good, good food & drink. I'd asked for a 5th floor room facing west and this request was noted and it was indeed what we got.

Overlooking Christchurch Cathedral (lit up at night), it was a great room. Very spacious, comfortable & clean. Can't say anymore than that - top hotel.

Wonderful

Ive gone to Ireland twice and the first time , i used the Jury's , it was perfectly situated , and the staff were amazing. The last trip to ireland , unfortuantely , the Jury's was booked . I ended up leaving that hotel and scrambling to find another, because it was dirty and unkept . I dont even want to talk about the staff at this establishment . the Jurys is simply the best. Near everything , whether you are walking or taking a bus , you just cant beat the location.

Perfect location

jurys in Christchuch is in a superb location, just a walk away from the city centre and just around the corner from the beautiful Temple Bar,which offers the best in pubs and restaurants. The hotel itself is beautful, with lovely, comfortable rooms and friendly staff.I will definitely be paying anoyher visit.

Jury's at Christchurch Just Dandy!

from MissCongeniality
OK so you want a hotel that's smart, near the sights but not too near..then choose the Jury's Inn at Christchurch. Smack bang opposite the Christchurch Cathedral this modern hotel has just had a new restaurant re-fit and it is great. Thw rooms are modern with great powerful hot showers. The reception staff vary between the more mature(like asking your Mum the best place for shopping) to hip and young(who'll know the coolest bars!)Breakfast can be a very filling Continental reasonably priced at 7 Euros or a tad dearer for a full fry up.We walked everywhere from here and the Dublin Tour Buses stop 100 yards away too-so what are you waiting for????????

Thank god for jurys

from A TripAdvisor Member
Thank god for jurys, my boyfriend had booked us in to the westin hotel in dublin

for my 21st birthday present. He had booked it for one night and had a lot of organising to do. However when we arrived and stated that we were paying in cash

they looked at us as if we had two heads!!! We are both students and to be honest that creates enough debt without getting a credit card bill on top. We left there and were

thankfully taken in by jurys for a 1/3 of the price. The staff were very helpful nad the rooms were lovely with a good view and not far away from the pubs and shopping. It was so good we stayed an extra night! Thanks Jurys and im sure we will be back again soon!

Be Warned!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Jury's Christchurch Inn is publicized as being completely refurbished. Don't believe it. On a recent visit in June 2002 we were given a noisy non-airconditioned room that was well-worn to put it mildly. Upon protesting we were given a quieter room at the rear of the hotel that must have been repainted last week. But there was still almost nowhere to place clothes and posessions: the single drawer was taken up with a non-removable hair dryer.Carpenters and plumbers jostled with us in the hallways and our telephone didn't work until we complained. Food quality was poor and there seemed little interest in helping guests with luggage - or anything elas for that matter. Rooms startat 95 euros a night.
