... It's a nice walk through a leafy area with sports courts and shops around. We arrived to a basic looking building considering how advanced the uni is however it was cooling to have the classroom doors open into the courtyard. The surrounding buildings were similarly plain. The class was interesting, we had an introduction to China and the university. We then had a 45 minute break during which Aimee, Rosa and I sat outside on the steps enjoying the warmth and ...

... up close they were peeling a bit! Every so often there would be an information sign along the way or a small exhibition in the gate tower. We decided to walk 3km along passing 2 gates however the wall at some point ran out and we are not sure if we were at our suggested destination. By this point everyones' feet ...

... I have found the roads to have similar rules to South East Asia; a lot of use of the horn and no strict lane use. This also means though that crossing the road is straight forward; when it's a green man just go and even if they still come they will move around you, and if there are no lights also just go! ... in
the west. this also means that our teachers are very pressurised too. The students make an instant decision on a teacher and if they feel that the teacher is not teaching them enough or not
giving enough homework then the parents pressurise the Chinese side of
the school to get rid of the teacher. I am proud to say that I have had very positive feedback when I have been called into teach and have been told that the students really like me, and ...

... Fresh in town (popular with Westerners). Caroline showed me how to get a taxi expat style: walk into a 5 star hotel, pretend you’re staying there and have the concierge organize a taxi for you. Apparently this is also a good trick for posting mail. My driver had asked for the night off (social event) so left us at Elements Fresh. The taxi home (approx 30 min drive) cost us a total of $8! Bargain! A 10 min taxi ride from Adelaide airport cost me $22 in ...
