... going on here. It is one of the prime surfspots in Brazil! When I get back to Brazil, I want to find a job hear and stay a while if I can! Met yet again some great people, parties on the beach and was saddened to leave! But after two nights of cheap and lethal caipirinhas on the beach (and some actual Zouk dancing!!) I was ready for that overnight bus where no alcohol is served to take me away for my next destination!

... at Barra de Lagoa where the waves are much smaller and perfect for us beginners. The surf school we did it with gurantee that you'll stand up and surf on your board by the end of the lesson. ... them quite sufficiently. Accommodation is not to hard to find and the restuarants are great. In the main area, next to the beach, there is beach soccer and volley ball courts, a big stage and a beach inlet which forms a canel that hooks around the back of the town with a bridge crossing it. On one side of the bridge, all the old timer, Brazilians sit around tables with chess table tops to play dominos all day. On the other side there is a worn down path ...

... and we had to catch 2 buses to get there. As soon as we got to the bus terminal a guy spoke perfect English to us asking if we needed any help. He pointed us onto the correct bus, which he too was getting. Then we were off to Rio Traverses terminal on the island. So no problems there. When we got off at the next terminal the same guy asked where we were trying to get to; I showed him the directions we had and he said, no, what beach are you going to? We had no idea! There was no mention ...

... as that was in its own right. Bigger, more accessible beaches, better infrastructure, good sea food and a cheap, nice place overlooking the beach. Not a bad start really. We stayed here for 6 days. Plenty of beach time, swimming, surfing (yep), walks, running (yep 2), good food and nice people. We both began to feel a bit like we were on holiday now. Still a few internet cafe moments, but knowing we would be swimming within 5 minutes of leaving the cafe`s was a nice feeling.

... for the night. Never the less a good night was had in one of the towns and clubs on the island. Got a bit lost on the way home, we'll say no more! This was our last stop in Brazil too L. ... was a soft drink. I didn't drink much soft drinks before my trip started, but must admit that I now have gotten completely hooked on Guaraná. It's easily the best soft drink ever, but they only seem to sell it in Brazil. So maybe I should just start importing it, and I'll surely be sorted from now until my final snooze hour. My brother and I are now in Florianópolis, one of our very last beach stops. Next we'll head inland towards Iguazu Falls.

... where I had the most amazing view of the town and island below. I scaled down the back side, getting a few injuries and scrapes but well worth it. On the back side of the mountain is this immaculate beach, where 2 Lagoons join and flow into the sea. The water is clean, warm and clear and there are loads of huge gulls and crabs and all kids of animals. They tell me there is some kind of worm that lives in the sand on the beaches.
