      A little ways on from Pervalka, the track turned west and headed through more pine forest towards the Baltic coast. I deviated from the main bike track for a bit to head to the beach for a bit. By now the day was quite warm and mostly sunny. After leaving the beach, I backtracked until I got back to the bike track.       ... made my way down to the waterline. Luck was with me as after a short time of looking, I managed to find a small speck of amber that had been washed up by the waves. I made my way back to the town to search out a place to eat dinner. Ended up having a decent salmon dish at a restaurant near the harbour. Made my way back to the apartment and being tired from my lack of sleep the past few nights, crawled into bed reasonably early.

      ... the ponds functioned as an alternate water supply, or were for recreation. But he said lots of people in this area have saunas (not as hot as in Scandinavia) and like to jump into cold water after a "schvitz" (my word, not his.)

      We saw a windmill farm, and were told that Lithuania gets about 20-percent of its energy from wind, and hopes to increase that amount in the coming years, since it relies on Russia for what it cannot produce ...

      ... here in Klaipeda! This park is full of sculptures done from 1984 to 1986 by various artists, it was formerly a cemetery but was demolished by the Russians. It started to rain again so we had to leave and head back home. Quiet afternoon but we did a little shopping, stocking up for the bus ride to Vilnius ...

      AM - Well it had to happen, pouring rain this morning but we walked through it to the Akropolis Shopping Centre which is only 2.5 kms away. Spent all day there, walking round and round viewing all the shops and cafés and perfumeries (separate from chemist) and watching some ice skaters in the centre rink. The shops were all on the ground floor with cinemas on the second floor. On the way there are some small groups of older people with little stalls selling fruit, vegetables and ...
