... Prague hippies. Nearby is the John Lennon pub and the flood level of many floods is marked on the wall. The 2002 level is the highest and is above door height! Back over the Charles Bridge, now very busy with tourists and hawkers. Were drawn into the library on the way back by a group of musicians playing music that sounded Irish, but presumably was Czech. They were sitting in front of a sculpture created from a stack of books placed in an open circle shape ...

... a good icebreaker. I guess many of the Americans they have met do not drink, and the fact that I felt in-superior to them was funny. We sat and drank, and had a lot of fun by the river. I liked them both a lot, I am very excited to hang out with them again .wemay be going to their cottage in sumava this weekend, but one of the children got strep throat, so it may be out off until next weekend. ... at 7.05 but our super organised daughter did not realise the ticket office shut at 7pm and the ticket machines only took coins and we did not have enough coins. So we broke the law and got on the tram without a ticket! If you get stopped (random inspectors) the fine is a few Czech Koruna. Not sure how many and did not want to find out.
We got a taxi back to the hotel, Rachel, left her ' going out clothes' with us - shock she hung them up! She then headed home ...

... go in, just stand at the door and look in, it was worth it. The walls were lined with books the big ones on the bottom self and getting smaller as the shelves make their way up the walls. The oldest book in the library is from the 9th century. I think it's incredible that books that old have survived through time. Our fare negotiation with a local taxi driver at the railway station resulted in the arrival of a second cab with a speed matched only by Dennis driving on the English motorways.
