I made it safely to the Taipei Airport from Manila a few hours ago. I have another 5 or so hours here before the long flight back to Seattle. I had a great last few days in the Philippines. I braved the chaos of Manila and got to reconnect with wonderful friends from the Peace Corps, High School, and make new friends and connections! It is always fun to reconnect with Totems and so funny to think that Kent Troug and I would both end up ...

Suffice it to say, there some serendipitous events today. First, we were able to sit all together on the flight to Taiwan. Next, upon arrival in Taiwan EVA airways, in particular an employee named Jason, were kind enough to change our flight so we could leave much earlier!

The flight to Taiwan was long and grueling. The seats were stiff and hard to the touch, they reminded me of oversized baby car seats. We got a small pillow and a small blanket but even that wasn't enough to help me sleep in easier. The flight lasted 13 hours and we arrived at 5:30 am Taiwan time (1:30 pm richland time) so ...

At 6am I left the hostel in Seoul and made my way to Incheon airport. My flight wasn't until around midday, but I wanted to arrive early. Not just because I like to give myself plenty of time, but as coincidence would have it a friend of mine happened to be flying into South Korea on the same day I was flying out.
I had met Marc in Bangkok three or four years ago at the tail end of my second big trip. We had been staying in the same hotel, and had got ...

... of Venice and drinking a mocha latte.
I feel like after this 50 hour voyage is finally done, I will never need to sit ever again. I would be walking the entire airport to stretch out right now if I didn't have to lug my bags around. I try to be good and move around on the plane whenever possible, but on that 14 hour flight, I'd say the fasten seat belt sign was on for about half of it. We'd hit a little turbulence and they'd turn it on, ...
