    Marks had to be in on Friday but we’re still teaching our last units and had to “guess” what the students would receive for a mark. The reports aren’t printed until next Friday so we can change things if necessary.

    ... last Saturday when there was a break in the weather, but, on the way home, the skies opened again. Luckily we were able to deke into a coffee shop and had a delightful milk tea as we waited. We’ve had a couple of storms during the day and that has been interesting. Two of the big ceiling tiles in my room collapsed under the weight of the water leaking in, so there was water everywhere and yes, it was during class. Now I just have 3 buckets ...

    ... has participated in a reading marathon, a recycled art competition and picked up garbage in the neighbourhood during Environment Week. My class is very competitive and respond to any challenge. I have never seen such unbridled enthusiasm for picking up garbage – all to see who could fill their bag the first.

    I love Houjie! I love that there is delicious street food everywhere for as little as 20p. I love that after school the streets are filled with children playing and running around, and saying hello to me.. I love the great weather, and the fact that there is always something to look at and something going on. I love that on a pretty regular basis something really random happens and you just shrug it off and say 'coz China'.
