Such a lot of character about these buildings as with the baroque RC church was magnificent inside but unable to take photos unless one paid €1. ... is a master of engineering the road up was built in a year, near the top is a tunnel into the mountain and a lift to the top. 406ft
there was still snow on the ground at the top 6017ft. It is now a big tourist attraction and restaurant
We had the most beautiful day which Ruth said is very rare, so good weather is following us.

... s bloody hard yakka driving in those conditions - you certainly need your wits about you, which is probably why I found it difficult....
Cold and very wet here, and snow on the mountains around us, so I think we will press on tomorrow, and try to get further south and away from this weather, and also the daunting prospect of the commencement of school holiday traffic tomorrow afternoon....and no bloody trains....

... the barns and get let out to the pasture in May. They must moo for joy when they see that lovely grass! There's lots of little wooden sheds dotted around the paddocks. They store the hay for wintertime. They have lots of sheds in case there's a fire and therefore they don't lose all the hay in one go. The firewood heaps are almost a work of art. They are so precisely stacked. The little villages are gorgeous. A lot of them have murals painted on the outside walls. ...
