April 26-29: The Hills Are Alive...........
I arrived in Salzburg around 2:00p on the 26th. On the train i chose my top 3 choices for where to stay based upon what looked to be most scenic and away from center of town...but still accessible....quickly got acclimated when i arrived, grabbed a map and started walking.....oh and the train ride? absolutely beautiful!!! basically couldn't stop …
Sunday ..Sunny Salzburg ...
... church steeples,domes of building and the magnificent castle/ fortress on the hill means one can never get lost.. you may discover a quaint little allyway, a museum or two, a restaurant, a market or three..( specially at this time of the year).. time will get away from you but your memories and photos are never going to.
A walk along the riverside shows that the ducks and swans enjoy it whatever the ...
So Salzburg ...Snow Snow & more snow
... br> Of course their are numerous restaurants, cafes and at this time of year xmas stalls and hot drinks too.
An afternoon of fabulous coffee shops, wandering in amongst the lanes and walkways on both sides of the river taking in the atmosphere and ambiance of this internationally acclaimed baroque architectural / best-preserved city is a delight...
So are the night views as one ambles back to call it a night.

Hallstatt
... first stop was the main square. It is a really charming little square with a small fountain in the center, colourful facades and is framed by a waterfall and forest in the background, up near the cliffs. The neatest part for me was the facades of the houses, especially with the one that has a pear tree espaliered up three storeys! From the square we continued walking through to the edge of town where we got some great views back on the main part of town itself. Megs ...
Salzburg
... 4 different small salads. It was all delicious and I enjoyed every bite. Anoop went for another typical Austrian dish of sauerkraut, dumplings, potatoes and various cuts of pork drowned in gravy. It was also delicious and a good choice on a cold day.
Afterwards we headed back to the market area in the square and enjoyed looking at all the flowers and foods on display in the stalls. We also walked over to another horse fountain which was in front ...
