Fox Hill & Rolle Street Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas, 242-324-2911
... Vegas style casino with the standard slot machines, roulette and black jack tables. We walked through the casino a few times on our way to other places within the resort. The reason we only ever walk through the casino is because we have absolutely no idea how to play any of the games. Even if we were tempted it would no doubt be extremely embarrassing as there don't seem to be any learner's tables. We even tried to put a quarter into one of the slot machines and couldn't even ...
Nassau, Bahamas bellavita... distance on our approach. A cruise ship passed behind us heading down to Nassau. It was cold! We were freezing! Dave changed into jeans and a sweatshirt and I had two shirts on and then we dug out our red wind breakers and skull caps. Still it was cold! The wind coming off the water was cold. All my sweaters were buried in the v-berth so I wrapped a blanket around me. I went down below to boil water for tea. The stove works ...
MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas takinbetz... radar and a wind generator because of our refrigeration. We also have a shortwave receiver that doesn't receive much! Windarra is a 42' (I think) Sparkman Stevens. They are traveling with their two children. It's a three cabin because their parents come down and sail with them. They are heading for Georgetown to meet Karl's parents then Becky's parents. They probably are well equipped but they don't have a ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetzApril 11, 2009 - Warderick Wells North Anchorage Whatta beautiful morning. After a hardy breakfast of ham and eggs, biscuits and coffee we lounged in our cockpit waiting for the day to begin. The little Bananaquit came visiting, hopping around on the cup holders, the side of Dave's cup and on the table looking for his sugar. Dave handed up a small bowl of sugar and the Bananaquit came back to feast ...
WARDERICK Wells CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... about an hour we stupidly drove up a beach track and managed to get it completely stuck in the sand i.e. half way up the wheel! Luckily we didn't freak out too much and a nice Hungarian man came to help dig us out. After about 90 minutes, various pieces of driftwood inserted under the tyre, and a big push from a group of English women, the car was set free, hoorah! Later on we came to find that we had probably bust the car, as it started playing up on ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas markandchar... a reef in the sail before we make the turn. It will be 60 miles over the backs with a south wind of 10-15-20 off the starboard side. We should be flying all day. This is what a sailboat is supposed to do--sail. We'll be shooting for Chub Cay by late afternoon, if all goes well. If not, we'll just be that much closer to Nassau than we were today. When we crossed the Bahama banks in 2006 to the Abacos, we had the luxury of tucking up on the ...
Alice Town, Bahamas takinbetz... other country in the world. The second half of my homework assignment entailed finding the price per barrel of oil for the last three years. The librarians researched for me on the internet but it took them for ever! I was happy for the help but was wondering just how many librarians does it take to Google oil prices??? Instead they wanted to do it "the librarian way" and look into databases that contained scholarly articles until ...
Atlantic Ocean, Florida, Bahamas claudiv... for a ship... So are you wondering what we did all day yesterday, while moored off the coast of Miami? MEETINGS!!! started at 9am and ended at 10pm with ONLY 3 short breaks during the day. It's occurring to me that this is DEF not a "free trip". We're already workin' our ends off learning all the administrative blahdittyblah. I thought we learned it all yesterday, but we start again with the faculty meetings today at 8:30am. Matthew and i are both a little worried; we've ...
Nassau, Bahamas aniseh... day away from port in Salvador, Brazil. I have one night in Salvador and I have to do a few things for classes during the day. Then the following day I set off on a three day trek to Iguacu falls on the Brazil/Argentinian border. This is the first of many trips and I don't think I could be more anxious. After I get back from the trip i'll try to upload my pictures of the falls and of the Bahamas. Hope all is well back in the states. Miss everyone... for now ;) Cheers, Josh
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas jpcasey... said Brenda, the shortest, sweetest, nicest security guard I've ever met. She came out of the gate, and to her realization, it was me, Munks. She was so excited to see an entertainer whom she had only had the pleasure of viewing on t.v. in person, she allowed us acces to the factory but not before she took a picture with me. As she gave us a personal tour of the facility, we were amazed at the size of some of the ...
