... also how the Japanese did in Asia and Pacific during the war. We should keep remembering how cruel those were, but again, not to blame, but not to forget for our future.
There are still many wars and violence going on in the world. Japan and Japanese people really should take this role to send the message out to the world, "war is not the answer, violence wouldn't solve anything in a long run".
... feeling like this ritual is like a beautiful art with a full of everyone's wishes, hopes and appreciation. This is how they have done it for a long time. I, as an outsider, just come in and see this ritual, and I scream "this is cruel!". I think that's not right. I mean, Ainu people have appreciated the existence of bears because bears bring them food, fur to protect from cold weather, and medicine. To appreciate what they can have for their living, they celebrate ...

The 100 Yen Post

We're in Sapporo now and it's absolutely amazing. However the hostel is charging ten yen per freaking minute to use the internet - which adds up to roughly $10 AUD an hour. ... my 25th. It took us about 2 hours to get back down, with only a few falls, and before we knew it the sun was down and we were on our way back to Sapporo to return the Japanese 'rice rocket' car we had rented. Weekend 3: Our friend and fellow JET from Wakayama, Mac flew up to visit us for our last weekend and we decided to go white water rafting! Once again we rented a car and drove about 3 hours to the small town of Hidaka with a big river famous for canyoning ...

... the final swap to Tokyo took place. Getting back on to a Shinkansen was a massive relief. More leg room and a train that wasn't a sauna. In the next 3 hours we covered more distance than in the last 6, moving away from the snow and back to the cherry blossom. We got off art Ueno a district of Tokyo as it was nearer our hotel. Our JR passes worked to getting us the rest of the way. It was a 10 ...

... supermarket (which some Scandinavian people took advantage of) but Niseko had some pretty good ones of their own. They had a concert with stalls selling beer/sake and other food/drink items and people just partied away. Some boarders and skiers went up the mountain and at midnight they lit flares to form 06 and 30 (which I have NFI bout the significance) formations on the mountain then boarded/skied down to the celebration area. It was freakin cold (found out next ...
