... backed into a space, a covering opened, and they dumped their snow into heated spaces in the ground, thus melting the snow on contact. I had heard about these at private homes and even seen a few in front of local businesses, but wasn't aware of the fact that they existed in such large scale. It's just another reminder of the adaptations and inventions that have come about from life in such a snowy climate.
