... you *****ing on me bro" etc.

I made it to my guesthouse being stared at, asked for money and offered drugs, in one piece, but the place was locked up (for safety). The guidebook advised never to go out alone at night, or even in pairs and that it was best to be in a group in the day too and never go down a quiet street and so i was thinking i had made a huge error and should maybe stay in the guesthouse until i could make my escape in the ...
Belize City, Belize District, Belize andycrisp... the time to continue on with it. I imagined all those battered old schoolbuses down below us bouncing down bad roads between Belize, Dangriga and Placencia. Part of me kinda wished I was down there with them on a journey that takes seven hours rather than 40 minutes.

After a relaxing stay in Placencia, we were able to go directly to the international airport via Dangriga and thereby avoiding the chaos of the ...
Belize City, Belize District, Belize atlpilot36From El Remate, I hitched my way to the border with Belize. I caught A ride about ten miles into Belize and then got stuck in the rain, with nobody even looking at me as I stuck my soggy thumb in their direction. A bus passed and I decided to flag it down. The country still has a bit of a pirate vibe to it, with lots of seedy expats and foreign corporations registered there. Also, lots of really extreme Christian groups in the country side. Anyways, I rode to ...
Belize City, Belize District, Belize seanryan... green iguana project at the San Ignacio Hotel where they rear iguanas from hatching to improve their survival chances once released after about 2 years. So its iguanas on your head & all over your arms etc, another first. Our cab driver knew a lot about birds but his habit of consulting the bird book while driving 50 miles an hour had to be stopped. We made Belize City bus station & had Chicken Rice & Beans not for the first time & its the bus to Orange Walk town.
Belize City, Belize District, Belize siruni... chill! After eating and checking on the internet to see if Sasha was in labour yet / exchange emergency numbers we explored the island which took about an hour, such is the size of the place. A few sandy lanes grid themselves throughout, with bright coloured shacks amongst a limited white beach and many jetty's plus a few hundred stray dogs and locals whizzing round on golf carts for transport! That afternoon was spent lying on an old ...
Caye Caulker, Belize Cayes, Belize nikandads2008... the bathroom. Of course, our fearless bodyguard Dugald came running in then, after hearing our screams from across the base, disposed of the beast. Syd is now our nightguard, and killer of the creepers. It was a slow start this morning after such an eventful night, but we were awake enough to glimpse TWO crocs on our way to the boat for church this morning. Luckily, the roads have dried a bit and we saw them from ...

Ladyville, Belize revdennis... as they do back home. And it seemed like a good story to tell; after all, adventures like these are all part of the reason I wanted to go travelling in the first place. In fact, after a few minutes of heading back north on the bus, I was downright happy about the whole situation; it was a beautiful day, the wind was blowing in my hair, and I was able to wile away the hours watching the country and the people go by. I also liked the fact that, for what felt like the first time on ...
Corazal, Belize elltrevHaving a Belikin beer at the hotel bar, sitting on the patio, you can see across the Belize river. Friendly local fisherman will come over and start telling you tales of their adventures at sea. Don't be so gullible when they show you their battle scars from the catch of the day.
