The Photo

... br>The slideshow and music did eat at our hearts.

Under a picture of a woman with her mouth sewn shut: "Detained refugees in an Australian desert detention facility sew their mouths closed in a hunger strike to protest against appalling treatment and living conditions. Freedom of speech; the great irony of our time"

While all of us were emotional, reading the statistics and looking at the pictures, this photo made many of us ...

Architect Your Life

... Then we asked us what values we would give to our children. What would we teach them? What do we want them to grow up knowing and understanding. He asked us to think of what our parents have taught us. Would we pass down those values to our children?

I wrote: My mom taught me strength; how to be strong in any situation and look forward. She taught me the importance of prayer and constantly tells me that she prays for me every night before going to bed ...

Farewell to Ghana, Views from Berlin and Denmark

... B**lin doing the touristy thing and staying in a youth hostel, since I felt that might be the easiest way to readjust to the West. It was still quite a shock to suddenly be in streets wh**e no-one is yelling 'Obruni', to be able to walk through an area and be the only p**son th**e, to talk about ev**yday things and have ev**yone und**stand me, to walk on green grass again (!), to pass through clean, concreted streets and buildings, and to have to work to a timetable again ...

City on the river.

Silkeborg was a beautiful little city built around it's river. It had walking paths by the river, and in the summer had river cruises. Such a pretty place. One thing that caught our attention was the garages for boats, complete with roller doors and all.

More viking stuff

Another viking museum called Moesgard. Fantastic. There was also a forest walk that was replanted in various sections with trees that grew in different time periods of Denmarks history. One section was planted with trees from one particular era, and another section with another era, etc. You'd call it a giant open-air flora museum. It was beautiful, even in winter. There were also things like an iron age house and a stone age barrow and a more recent fishermans house etc.

Fun in Fredericia

... this Daniel!!??)).... Need I say there was more great food, especially delicious pickled seafoods and smoked salmon etc, plus the usual array of lots of new and yet unseen cheeses, dips et al, ohmygooooodnoooo!!! A trampoline in the yard was a big hit for all including me, as was the PlayStation for Tom in particular, though sadly we never did get round to the big Aust Denmark Karaoke Challenge... next time. Since we saw them ...

School Start Week 5 - Tuesday

... food (hopefully) tomorrow organized by one of the tenants in my storey. But of course, I have to pay for the ingredients, say around 20 to 30 krones. Well, I think its not a bad idea to try and mingle with them. I kind of like my tenants. They are all very helpful and friendly. Will take pictures with them. Oh I joined skype today too and chatted with a long time friend whom is going to Australia to study soon. The audio is not bad. I could hear my friend ...

Århus, August 12, 2007 - Sunday

... Actually never." - he answered. "You never travelled abroad?!" - I was surprised. To me it was kind of normal that in our age people who could afford it tried to see the world. "I was once in America." - he said. "And that's all?" "Yes." "And how did you like it?" He told me he liked American way of life very much. Which, in fact, came as no surprise once I knew he was a collector of American cars. He also said he was thinking about one day possibly moving to United States. I ...

ARoS And A Tri-Lingual Pizza

... to my host brothers, who just said there orders in German a bit louder than usual (the universal solution to making someone understand. Shout). Eventually we came to an agreement on drinks and started on the pizza, and even after a heated discussion we werent quite sure what they where when they arrived.
After seeing a chopped up horse, some amazing art, and eating unknown pizzas we set off back to my home town, another city, another country, but the same world.

Simon Gets Married!

... more. The next morning we met Simon and his new wife Jessica for breakfast. We caught up over some coffee and then once again decided to go check out the town with Simon´s parents. Horsens is a very small town that only has a 6 weeks tourist season. Since that season was over, the local people were very interested to know what the hell we were doing there. The town itself it pretty and it sits right on a harbour. We went for a mini pub crawl ...
