... so we decided it was best to settle away from the centre of town for a change and park in a residential district about 1km away... much more tranquilo!!

Splashed out on take away pizza for dinner but ate it in the shop and washed down with a bottle of beer. We became the hot topic of conversation when owners and local patrons found out we were Australian and were ...

We are damned if we do, damned if we don't. One way or another we can never make the people of the train happy.

We arrive in Genoa at the stop we think is ours. The weather is hot and sunny. We have a two hour lay over, so we stroll over to this beautiful town square that is within ...

First Port of Call

This morning we woke up to get ready to go on the Historic Center walking tour of Genoa. We had a nice breakfast at the buffet and I even found a decaf cappa for breakfast too. We met in the lounge at 8:45 and got on a little boat in the harbor and had a tour of the harbor and then got off at the aquarium and started our tour. Genoa is very nice and the historic section dates back ...

Heading towards Switzerland

Destination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!

... so forth. Upon our maiden voyage out of Munchen to Luzern (Lucerne) we quickly noticed that the city streets are shared between many forms of transportation. There are trucks, cars, scooters, bicycles, and pedestrians, along with golf carts and 4-wheelers. Anything goes. You can license anything that moves. All of this movement is sharing the road with large fast electric trains running down the center of the street. Much like our light rail ...

... crocodiles, and on and on...

Then a stroll around the old city, must have taken a REALLY wrong turn as I found myself in a narrow street with a couple of feral call girls out at 11am. Nothing like bright blue eyeshadow, teased hair and fluro fishnets to get the boys running... now that's something I wish I could have photographed!

And off to La Spezia.

... and how big the models and maps where, picture a room that was about 30 feet long and 12 feet tall. HUGE models. There were two tables in the room, one had the final technical drawings of the entire harbor on it (each building), the other had all of Renzo's diagrams and conceptual sketches. It was so amazing to see that the things we do in studio are still used by such a successful architect. As we wondered through the museum we found some "sets" to take pictures on ...

One of the most beautiful places in the world

... were some of my favourite days of the trip so far and was a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of Rome. While the area is still very heavily touristed this time of year was quite a good time to go as the weather was still perfect yet the summer crowds were long gone. The first day was spent hiking between each village, walking along the cliff faces that lined the bluest ocean ive seen. Each village ...

Le Cinque Terre

Ok guys, here we are in Le Cinque Terre. Sorry for my last entry, kinda boring and really not that informative... it had been a long day of walking and that computer made me lose my focus ;) not to mention those foreign keyboards where you can't find any of the right keys ;) Ok, so here's an update as to what's been going on... Venice - spent 2 nights there, yes it was pretty expensive, but then again, it is here too. Go where tourists go and you ...
