The public transportation here is incredible, I can't think of any other place in the world with better public transportation...so I can easily explore the city for $1 - $5 for a day.

... in their air conditioned homes! Luckily for us George has been to see them lots of times so he knew exactly where to go first! We marched past all the other dawdling tourists and straight to an enclosure where we found our first (sleeping) panda!!! We were actually very lucky, lots of the other pandas were moving around - a young one came right over to us, as close as he could, as just stood there looking at us!

We awoke early and headed to the Panda Reserves outside Chengdu at 7:40. 45 minutes later we arrived and headed in. Our guide couldn't speak English, or give a ****, but we were accompanied by another group,  The panda reserve was pretty great. The first place we went had a bunch of adolescent pandas hanging around, there were 6 or 7 crawling trees and lounging  about eating bamboo. ... pandas. They come right up to her and wrap their legs around her legs. They sit in a shallow pond to eat and then they’re off to play again. The rain becomes a downpour, and we are now soaked to the bone. We take shelter under the entrance to the enclosure, contemplating our next stop.

... to protect the Giant Pandas. At the site they have many pandas that you can see along with a group of red pandas. You might also see some peacocks wandering around the paths. Though the center attracts tons of tourists the size of the facility allowed me to find a place without people to watch the pandas. The only place that will always be full is the baby panda area. People just can't resist the cuteness. Just like a zoo ...
