    ... terraces.

The Hakka buildings were amazing. the families used to live communally in a fortress type building, with the animals on the ground floor and living accommodation above, very similar to Shakespeare's Globe.

We had a tea tasting session and walked through little stalls selling tobacco, fruit, crafts and tea.

A really lovely trip, which only cost us 218RMB for the whole day from 7.20am to 7.20pm. Fabuluous!

... reaching the panda exhibit. The two pandas are 'married' but hate each other. They are always on opposite sides of the cage : ). Luckily, one of the pandas was sitting lazily on a platform covered in a blanket of bamboo while it chowed down. Every once in a while, she/he would throw the bamboo everywhere then settle down to eat again. We got some very good pictures of this one but the other one had its head in a cave...and no ...

... style of communal living found in the Longhouses that I had seen in Borneo with living areas and storerooms surrounding a large communal courtyard with cooking areas. Some of these buildings they would hold entire clans in them!

Arriving at Liulian in Yongding County I was immediately greeted by a few touts. I had been warned to expect that though and for a change I was actually pleased to see them. See unlike normal ...
