    I got back to the start and explained in broken Chinese to everyone, and we laughed really hard for a few minutes. A big Chinese family had arrived, and they all stared over my shoulder at all the pictures of how scared Shanshan and I were.

    ... moon...by going downward. ("Wow, he must have been pretty drunk to think that.") He drowned, as most highly intoxicated people would (he may also have been hanyazi?) and dolphins most definitely carried him to the heavens. He is now a God.

    The park has beautiful temples to commemorate him, and then a LOT of hiking. We went on what might have been a short hike along the Yangtze River, but ended up lasting a few hours. We did a LOT ...

    ... the hotel to meet our hosts, who took us to the MOST AMAZING breakfast I can think of. Ah, it was such a perfect morning and afternoon... we learned a lot of Chinese from our conversations, and somehow I actually felt like I understood what was going on and the mandarin wasn't all going in one ear and out the other.

    ... police even got called in! To cut a long story short (unlike you mum i will actually get straight to the point here) in the end 300 yuan was paid and we left of our own free will, no handcuffs or police escort and returned to the hotel. Again this was another classic example of the Chinese 'saving face', however in this case i think dragon came out on top! Thank God i didn't eat in the end ...
