On both sides of the Yangtze there are steep hills (mountains) but that doesn't stop people living there, apart from the steepest places of course where even mountain goats couldn't go. So there are houses, villages and huge cities all the way along it. The night time views of the cities were amazing. There was lots ...

They live for 100 days and by the time everybody had kind of fiddled with the cage expressing sympathy, I think it's 100th day had pretty much come upon it more suddenly than anticipated. After Beijing we spent five nights in Jingmen, Hubei province, where Jin grew up and her family still lives. We spent a lot of time enjoying home-cooked and local foods, and hanging out with all of her family members. Everyone was so friendly, warm, funny, welcoming, and ...

    ... don't match the scale...

Today, we checked out of our chilly hostel, leaving our bags to take a little trip to a local Ming tomb, the Ming Xianling. The weather had improved greatly, so it was nice to just stroll about the area, which was not very exciting. According to Jules, if you have visited one Ming tomb, you don't have to fuss about seeing another one. What was interesting about this one was that a lot of the original ...
