The Bamboo Sea is an official tourist destination with special maps and other recognition. However each local hotel seems to run its own show in arranging visits to sites within the district. It's about 20 miles wide with mostly two lane asphalt roads for the tour buses and private cars.

Neither Chichi nor Chen had been here before, so were excited to visit. This entry continues with lunch on our first day. It's a little tiresome to flip thru ...

... Friday 10 p.m. on an older bus from Chengdu w/ bugs running around inside, but no biting or stings, they stayed on the floor. I loved looking at the passing farms, not so much the occasional grubby towns. I get energy appreciating how land can be well used. This train took us across the river to the Science Museum. Auntie Rachel and I walked down the street from the museum to the Oriental Pearl Tower. It was a long walk, but along the way we saw some really cool things! The streets was lined with trees that had lights like Christmas time. It was so pretty.

We walked and walked until we finally reached the Oriental Pearl Tower. ...

        ... my walks around Nanxi.

After dinner I had to try to pack once again to accomodate all the wonderful gifts given to me. It was rather difficult. I'm hoping that my experience in packing will help me to avoid extra charges tomorrow. It was a bit difficult to zip my suitcases...

I am very sad to leave Nanxi, but am anxious for the adventure that awaits me in Shanghai.

... going to the first lesson.

The first class was a third grade English class. It was a review lesson to prepare for an upcoming exam. The teacher incorporated many pictures and games to make the learning interesting for the students. The students were also very engaged in the lesson. This is something that is lacking the high school classes. They played a "hot potato" type game to review asking questions. ...
