... the road and in other parts of China you need good car insurance. So it must work for Beijing.
After lunch we headed to the Beijing zoo which was a treat in itself. We quick sprinted to the main attraction of the Beijing Zoo, the giant pandas. There are several pandas in both outdoor and indoor enclosures and they are the treat of the zoo. One really has to push in to get a good picture as everyone wants to get a look at the rare creatures.

... the scenery when we came across an outdoor gym- Oli's eyes lit up! As he went to test out his strength against the numerous top less old men, I watched a traditional dragon boat race take place. With the beating of the drum keeping the rowers in line I turned to see Oli trying his hand at some pulls up on the monkey bar- only to be shown up seconds later by a 70 year old man doing the hardest crossfit moves I have ever seen! (In his defence the guy was like Jackie Chan). ...
... of the city, including the Olympic Bird's Nest and Water Cube. No small feet considering the Forbidden City was built in the 1400s. We had a great lunch (green beans were awesome) and then went on a Hutong tour. Seeing the changes in the area was memorable. Things are cleaner and modernised . ... and clearly dispelled my notion of the Chinese being more conservative. There is clearly a deep age gap between the grandma generation and the teenagers. Teenagers choose their daring fashion; grandmothers hangout together to comment on the younger generation's fashion, which often includes the phrase "Isn't she cold?" (even though it is at least 80 degrees).
