Hot, Tired, and Cranky
Hot, Tired, and Cranky Room service got the wrong room and rang our doorbell at 11:30 pm lat night and I never really got back to sleep after that. Also, for some reason the air conditioning is programmed to shut off during the night and it was sweltering in our room. Opening the window didn't help, there were people outside on the deck all night …
I Love Shanghai
We wake to the alarm cock on my iPad mini (it has been very reliable) and start to get ready for the day. I decide to check the blog and upload a couple entries I've completed. I push the button in the app and....WTF!!! It has made triplicates of every draft post I have except for May 14 which it has decided to erase. This is a great start to the …
A Foggy Three Gorges Dam
Another wake up call from the music over the intercom. I think it's louder than it was yesterday. And it's earlier. What the hell? Ten to seven is too early but we get up, shower and rush to get ready. We leave the ship today so I pack up our stuff and then hurry to the dining room before the restaurant closes. Our shore excursion today starts at 8 …
Silk Worms and Grandma's Kitchen
We started our full day in Shanghai with a visit to the Shanghai Museum. We only had an hour here which is too bad - what an amazing museum! We made the most of our hour, visiting a Jade gallery, a Ming and Tang Dynasty Furniture gallery, a gallery about old Chinese Coins and Silk Road coins, and a gallery about Chinese Seals. The highlight was …
Artist farmers and Shanghai lights
Our guide, Peter, met us in the lobby of our hotel this morning at 8am sharp. We drove out of Xi'an noting that the streets were busy and people everywhere even at eight in the morning on a Sunday. We passed Xi'an's bell tower and the old city walls again on our way out.
We drove an hour into Huxian County - to see what, Josh and I weren't …

TravelPod Member ReviewsJin Jiang Hotel Shanghai
This hotel is in a lovely part of Shanghai and our room was very comfortable. The only complaint we had was having to pay for Internet and low water pressure.

the room was lovely and the bellman extremely solicitous. the breakfast buffet was not nearly as interesting as at other hotels we had stayed at on this trip though.

A decent, livable hotle if coming from western society. Room, walls and beds are clean but the bathrooms as usual are quite mouldy and not so clean compared to the rest of the room. But coming from me, I'm someone that doesn't really like dirt made by other people and most of the people I travelled with said they were fine with the bathrooms.
