... cool. It is almost time for the harvest so the terraces are golden.
We walked from one village to another. It took us about seven hours of climbing but it was well worth it. The sights were breathtaking. If you get a chance you should visit here.
... to the airport previously!!
First stop was a restaurant for lunch and Irene, Margret's daughter joined us. By this time we were flagging a little, particularly as it is so hot and humid!! We then went to henry's home , which is magnificent, where we were installed in the middle floor suite for our stay. We managed a brief rest before it was time to go out and about. First stop was Henry and Susan's business where we explored the ...
... flight very much. Arriving at Shenzhen airport I took the coach to Wanchai, via the border controls. The ride was very nice in the air conditioned coach, and I arrived within 100m of my hotel.
The hotel was very posh and nice, a great break from the hostels I had been staying in, and I had a twin room, even though it was just me, so loads of space and a TV :)
I'll put the rest of the HK stuff in the HK stories
... got up in the dark the morning of New Years Eve & headed off to Wuhan airport for the 1st leg of my journey. As there were no direct flights to Malaysia from Wuhan, I flew to Haikou which is the capital of Hainan (a tropical island at the southern tip of China). I sat next to a very young couple who had just got married & were flying to Hainan for their honeymoon. Just when I was feeling all lovey-dovey for them, I looked over to see a woman staring at me like I was from outer space ...

Haikou, China bertil... boneless duck dish that we had noticed on the menu the day before, but the waiter tried to steer us away from this to a steamed chicken which was their specialty. We compromised and had half of each. No problem. In China, if you want half a dish you pay half the price. The chicken was indeed very good, It's probably all free range here, certainly tastier than the chicken back home. We ordered a different eggplant dish, tempting as it was ...
Bei Hei, Guangxi, China raymondc... with no idea of the cost. Given the number of diners we didn't think it would be too exorbitant. The dishes were acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary, so we were quite happy to find that the cost was not much more than in the little street restaurants. To our surprise, when the bill came, the waiter placed a little pot of bamboo on our table. When we asked what this was about, he just answered "Mai tan (Bill)," in a tone suggesting that it's perfectly normal ...
