... a taxi. They are going directly to the train station, which meant Alison, Craig and I had to collect their luggage along with ours at the Hostel and meet them there...hopefully in time to catch our 5:49 train to Suzhou. The Amazing Race is on! Who will get there first? The Young Turner Brother/Sister Team or the Old(er) Turner Brother/Sister Turner (and me)? Will it matter in the end if either team is late? When we left Jordan and Riley shortly after our beer at the Boxing Cat, they headed out to the Pudong District to shop for cheap knockoffs. Unfortunately, they arrived after the shops closed, so all five of us shopped out there today. Alison bought a a Jade-like bracelet and a table runner. Here, people are constantly cleaning ...

... the best ice cream bar I've ever had, and it even crossed my mind to take a picture of the greatness but I thought, no, it's near-boiling outside, I should finish it before it drips. I must, however, lamentably add that in the coming days in Hangzhou, I looked in at least 30 more freezers before realizing that it was a once-in-a-lifetime bar. We even made a special trip back to the out-of-the-way place I bought it. The lady acted like they had never had such a thing. Son of a bee sting!

Wandering the gardens and cruising the lake

A travel blog entry by leanneroles on Apr 09, 2012

Hangzhou is a very pretty city with beautiful gardens planted on every square inch of available land. The city surrounds the West Lake where we saw at least fifty brides having their wedding photos taken. Unfortunately what detracts from the city is their massive traffic problems. Every time we got in the car we would sit in a traffic jam somewhere. Very tedious! Hard to find a quiet ...
