About 20 miles before Vegas is another American icon: the Hoover Dam. This is conveniently right next to the highway (why would they put anything far from the highway here?) so we stopped off for a quick look. The moment we stepped out of the car, we were flattened by the heat: 95F in the shade and we had no shade today to protect us. We had a little walk down to the visitor centre but they wanted $10 entry each ...
