Jeju

... early one morning and we were off. We drove three hours to an airport and rocketed off for Jeju. I was stoked because the Donghae crew is pretty damn sweet and no enemies to mirth: Angelo (Jesus), Pete (DJ Wallstreet), and a handful of like minded souls were eager for a few days of no chores and merrymaking. The trip ended up being much more regimented that I had anticipated, much to my dissapointment. Essentially, during the day we ...

... to be wearing couples look (it's usually shades of pastels and pinks by the way, as picked out by the lady) will almost always be carying his partners handbag too. Men over here seem quite emasculated - having said that tho they don't seem to mind because all of the women are amazingly attractive, so it's probably a small price to pay for having a hot girlfriend!!

After much sightseeing of the city and trapsing through many of the endless ...

... though this cycle of destruction in Afghanistan and Iraq will continue for a very long time than the near decade it has already, of course understanding that this seems to be the norm over history in this place. As every child, father, mother, grandparent, uncle, aunt, sibling, and best friend sees a loved one dismembered or blown into a million pieces it is they that will take up arms down the road. But hey that's good fore making money right? The more bombs dropped, robot killing ...

Au boute du boute! / At the tip of the tip!

... I think its because I don't know Korean, which I'm trying to learn and it is hard man, and they don't know English very well-this allows for a lot of optimistic interpretation. Anyway, so my school gives me a cell phone to use. It's all hip and nice. It can take pictures, play games, write in Korean and best of all it doesn't need a charger. Well, it does but they forgot to give me it. Another good thing is it's got this cool anti ...

Day 5- Swimming in Seaweed Soup

... of the resterants and shops I step into. I can see a visible relief in Koreans when they realize I know how to read a menu or udnerstand simple phrases like "one more beer please" or "that will be 25,000 won". Jeju is almost like whole other country. I suppose it is something like what many people call "sub-tropical". I could speak more on this but I think my photos show this much better than I can write about it.

Wet, Hot, Korean Summer....

... I even been forgetting the names of things in English. Not normal things--it's random, but it happens....kinda weird--total brain ***** on things I should remember, but haven't had to think about since I've been here.

Another thing worth mentioning I think is obviously, the Beijing Olympics. Really close to home!! In fact, when we were leaving Jeju, we ran into some of the Australian Olympic team in the airport. I think they were trialthilon ...

Jeju at Last

... chain called Lotteria. I'd seen the chain tons of times, but my McDonald's aversion had always turned me away. To me, it's better than American burger places, despite strange entrees like the shrimp and bulgogi burgers. With a satisfied stomach, we ventured to the Jeju World Cup Stadium, home to the traditional Korean doll museum. Also, Helen's pick and better than I expected. Inside were paper mache depictions of traditional Korean way of living. My ...

... mandarin duck), and sons (carp). You pick the blessing of your choice and stand in front of the animal symbol and throw coins into the lucky bag in the centre. If the coin lands in the lucky bag, you will receive that blessing. The coins gathered are used to help Korea's underprivileged. Cheonjeyeon means "Pond of God" or "Pond of the Heaven's Emperor". ... time-honored tradition is the sole reason for a visit to Seongsan-ri. Wanting to partake of the same ritual, Mayu and I decided to hit the pad early so we could do a morning hike up in time to witness it. So, we got up today at the ungodly hour of about 4:30am, washed our faces awake and started another ascent in the darkness of early morning. Seongsan-ri was still and silent as a tomb and the pathway up was just barely lit by the mere sliver of the waning moon. A few ...
