I am only stayin the night just to see the Matterhorn. The sun is out and I took a hike up nearby hill. It was about an hour and a half uphill walk with regular short stops to catch my breath. I think I have had enough of hiking now, I did 4 hours of it at Montreux as well, I must have the best **** at the moment. Spectacular view of the mountain at the hilltop though. I decided to change hostels because I really didn't like this one. I am not fond of the international hostels. They're like hospitals, although the buffet breakfast was nice and I liked their cat. I was woken up by screaming, unruly kids. Some parents aren't parents. I was happy to change. The sun had also come out and so I snuck on the train from Montreux Tilletet to Veyvey which is only 5 minutes away. The place is much nicer and has free food and a kitchen. ... to enjoy beautiful views on the way up, however once we hit the observation deck, it was a different story. We were truly in the clouds with no visibility. It reminded me of the time I stood on the Great Wall in China and missed the beautiful views because of the rain and fog. We still enjoyed the ice cave and maneuvering our way through the observatory. We watched a movie about the mountain and had some yummy hot ...

... we are are smack in the middle of the most beautiful peaks and mountains in the world, from the top you could see the Jungfrau and Eiger, wow, i must of said that about 1000 times and it never got old. we actually heard and saw an avalanche happen on the Jungfrau during our hike, we started off in the fields and hills before we got to the steep stuff, saw so many cows with their enormous cow bells, they were very friendly, one actually started licking my hand ...

... office and to our horror we found out that ALL the passes are closed except for one. This pass it about two hours back in the direction we had just driven and if we had have taken the correct route in the first place we would have been at our destination at 2 or 3pm, instead we had spent a long crampt day traveling. Ah but what can you do, we should have done a bit more reseach but it didn't even occur to us to check. But that is the adventure isn't it??
