The BIG day in Barcelona
After a few brief days of home cooked meals it was back on the road again. Mum having panicked about the ash cloud had now set Lani and I up with 3 flights each to Jo and Greg's wedding in Barcelona. Fortunately all was calm in Iceland and we made it over to Espanya on our first attempt. Our first few days in Barcelona were nice and relaxing, …
On our way to Barthelona
Another train to catch, the alarm set to go off at 5.45am. I wake at 4.30 with heart pounding. I'd been having a strange dream about unfamiliar train stations, maybe wrong trains and eating peculiar looking food. I'm anxious about the upcoming transit to Barcelona, yet it is all so straightforward. Just another new city! In Spain, for the first …
Gaudi, gaudy and gorgeous
Today we are going to do a bit more of an explore around the Ramblas and then I have booked us on an afternoon Gaudi tour. I figure the only way I am going to get my head around his work is to be informed by a guide. After breakfast we head out and down the Ramblas again. We notice this morning that there are sections devoted to the Flower Market ( …
Hotel Jazz in Barcelona: My review at Tripadvisor
We stayed at this hotel during mid of March for 4 nights as a group of three. I reserved the hotel based on the reviews from tripadvisor. The first thing I want to mention is that the hotel is very conveniently located. It is just two very short blocks away from the subway's interchange station CATALUNYA, where you can connect to L1, L3 and other …
Cannot have enough Paella
Fish and shellfish are the best for Catalan food. Among all the dishes in Barcelona, I cannot have enough of Paella. Paella is the most famous of the arros, but saffron is less used than in the traditional Valencian dish. They came in variations. My favorite is the "black rice", in which squid inks are mixed with rice. It is odd that besides …

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Jazz Barcelona
Fabulous
We were more than satisfied with the Hotel Jazz. The staff were friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was relaxed, the location perfect for our first visit to Barcelona. My only problem with the hotel was that I wanted to spend too much time there chatting with our friends near to the rooftop pool, when we should have been exploring the city. Can't wait to go back
Excellent Staff
I just stayed 8 nights at Hotel Jazz, where the accommodations were spacious, clean and attractive. The location was superb, on a noisy street, but the soundproof windows did the trick. Best of all, the staff was extremely professional - friendly, gracious and eager to make your stay as nice as possible. I highly recommend this hotel.
Fantastic
Hotel Jazz was fantastic and I am grateful to the first reviewers of this hotel which prompted my booking. The staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were terrific - very modern and clean. Great for a romantic trip with your loved one!! We requested a queen sized bed and ended up sleeping on the bigest matress I have ever come across! The location could not be better - right bang in central barcelona and easily accessible by bus from the airport. Hotel breakfast is a bit costly but there are some excellent cafes nearby. Would definately visit Hotel Jazz again - it is rated 3* but the accomodation far exceeds this! ENJOY
Absolutely fantastic
What a hotel, this has everything that you could want! Is very modern, with all the room facilities that you could ask for!
Its good for couples, went their with my boyfriend and we had a great time!
Was a bit nervous at first when we turned up to see that their was building work going on which looked like the hotel, but then realised that the hotel was round the side.
Got to the hotel and was allowed to check in straight away, rooms were cleaned every day and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
A roof top swimming pool with which you can see Barcelona.
I would deffinetly recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay their again if i had the chance!
Terrible, bad experience!!!
Terrible and unfriendly service. I made the reservation from the hotel website, when I got to the hotel they couldn't find my reservation, I had to wait half a day to get the room. And it took them 5 hours to get my luggage to my room. There is no service at this hotel!!! You couldn't ask for any service. And even worst, I paid cash for my room but when my credit card's bill came, they also charged me for the room!!! ( I have to put my credit card to guarantee the room when reserved the room) I still couldn't contact them to get my money back. Be careful!! Please think carefully before you choose this hotel. It was such a nightmare.
Wonderful
Very nice hotel with spacious rooms and a wonderful location. Certainly worth the very reasonable price.
Perfect hotel in a perfect location
Hotel Jazz could easily be mistaken for one of the W Hotels because of its exquisitely minimalist interior design. Our standard-size room was quite large by European standards and we appreciated the towel warmer and other amenities. The location is superb. It is minutes from the metro station and La Ramblas and is abundant with great restaurants and cool clothing stores. The staff was friendly and efficient and very accommodating to monolingual Americans. My wife and I highly recommend this hotel.
Loved Hotel Jazz
Hotel Jazz was absolutely wonderful. The spanking new hotel has been open less than a year and it's a winner. The spotlessly clean, contemporary designed rooms are very comfy. Service was friendly and the free internet access in the restaurant area is a great idea. My family loved it. We would definately stay again.
What a Hotel
What a hotel the Jazz is.
At first had a bit of a panic as the commercial units underneath have not been finished yet and from first glances it looked at though the hotel had not been finished!
Had a little wait for our room but it was well worth it.
The rooms are fantastic - everything you needed, safe, mini bar, hairdryer, toilitries (including razors and toothbrushes!).
The bed was the biggest bed I have ever seen!
The continental breakfast was good too. Plenty to choose from - cheeses, meats, different pastries, poached/scrambled/boiled eggs, omlettes, the list was endless. Good service too.
The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
If you are thinking of booking this hotel, go for it - its great.
The location is fantastic too - near the Universitat metro station and a 2 minute walk from the Pl. de Catalunya where all buses and the main square is.
