... a workout. San Francisco is built on hills and no matter which way you turn you are likely to have to do some climbing in order to get to your destination. This has been magnified by the fact that we've chosen our time to visit to coincide with a three day (so far) strike of the cable car drivers. Our dear friend took us to a ramen restaurant called the Ramen Shop that had an open kitchen that was one of the most delicious meals of my life. The street that this restaurant is on is beautiful. A tip: try to make reservations anywhere and everywhere cause there are crazy line ups that take a LONG time. We tried to go to a lobster/crab shack that was supposed to be amazing but when we got there it was something like 2-3 hours! ...

... wouldn’t shut, there was rubbish everywhere, the sink was dirty, the hostel felt very hostile, the staff were unfriendly and there were loads of crazy people outside at all times. ... guy to mr not so nice guy and was giving rather rude and unfounded opinions about Daniel so it was time to move on! It was very strange and unexpected as we had been well received until then, and I was still having a nice stay in Oakland.

... when we arrived in the USA as when we had left the UK. We arrived mid afternoon to warmth and sunshine, so outside the airport while waiting for our shuttle, we were happy to take some layers of clothing off. Felt unreal to now be standing outside San Fransisco Airport, and we marvelled at all the big wide buses with their V8 motors, which came in various makes, mainly Fords and Chevrolets.
