... in the room balcony relaxing among the greens in the garden while Rehan was having a good sleep.

It was a sunny day and we spent quite a lot of time in the beach - started early in the morning. It was really peaceful and serene with hardly anybody in the beach. We could just see two more families around and since it was monsoon there are no beach shacks neither any vendors around - This is want I ...
Goa, Goa, India boraabhijitHello Again!! Well we made it to Goa in on piece- only just! I had a bit of an accident at Mumbai station - was walking to get on the train and my ankle buckled and I ceremoniously fell over which resulted in me lying on the floor looking like an overturned turtle- completely unable to get up and laughing hysterically! I'm ok but grazed knees aren't a look I can quite pull off! The overnight train was certainly an experience; we ...
Goa, India jess_m... bombs? "So our plan is to make sure people can only congregate indoors (where there is no real security anyway), and not on the beach: that way they are more concentrated if a bomb explodes!" Most of Goa's legendary late night beach parties were cancelled and during our Christmas dinner we saw armed soldiers walking on the beach. The illusion of paradise was shattered by the absurdities of the modern world; after all this is ...
Goa, India tavini... I imagined! The next day I had a massage at the beach(I caved in after much badgering from Anita- my masseuse)and it was very relaxing and rather good for 4 pound!.The beach was pretty stunning and I started to relax a bit. That evening i got my first mossie bites but i got some Osmosdos and this did the trick.Oh my god how many times can you be asked if you want a taxi?It was like being in a permanent just come out of the club situation. This was really starting ...
goa, India gyppojim... my shorts an t-shirt and hat. Catching the 15 minute bus journey should have been easy but i had to let 3 buses go by as they were jam packed and got the 4th one into Kadamba bus station and walked it with everyone else the 5 minues to the event. It was in full flow when i got there, thousands of people lining the streets enjoying the full spectacle of the parade, lots of colour, music, food and much more. It was such a relaxed and happy atmosphere ...
Margao, India vastutraveller... we found a nice hut that they were just putting the finishing touches to so we took it and then a few days later moved into one right at the front with a lovely sea view from the balcony. We spent the first week trying to get tans for the wedding and chasing up Ranjan the flaky wedding planner. He took us to see the place where we'd have the wedding and it all seemed like it was actually going to happen. We'd found Ranjan on the Internet and he ...
Palolem, Goa, India squeak_1912... peeling sweaty package tourists to aging leathery hippies in Mickey Mouse pajamas (I kid you not), from blissed-out rainbow-wearing crusties to naive and malnourished ravers with a penchant for fluorescence. My favourite is our middle aged and unabashed member of the thong brigade that we see every morning during our swim, jogging up and down the beach in little more than his bandana. - Find a bin for your litter... that's not emptied behind the beach The ...
Panaji, India tallbird_lankey... had been building up to this - the swell of the sea was bigger and on the last day it was cloudy and noticeably cooler. Such relief that I was not sweating 24/7 - I packed and left L'Armour and would catch a bus south. Funny place that hotel - run by an iron rod by the general manager - the staff were too attentive and too much under foot at times. The RG described the service as 'slick' - I found it over the top and stern when the manager was present, slack and surly when the manager had left.
Benualim, India rgw...... of their way to exercise much in India as they get their exercise through their work unlike us North Americans. Our time in Mumbai was extremely short (less than 24 hrs) which was fine as it didn't seem to be an overly exciting place (in comparison to what we've seen) - traffic was totally under control, not as many horns, not as much 'culture'... We did make it out to Elephanta Island which is home to crazy caves and sculptures dating back to just several hundred years after AD. The boat ...
