Though we went to bed quite early then night before, we slept peacefully until 11am. This sleep is a long time coming; our hotel room at the back of a garden area was the perfect setting for us. We made a leisurely breakfast of yogurt, blueberries and strawberries, chocolate milk, oatmeal, buns with eggs and cheese. ... no fooling our stomachs when our bus arrived into La Serena at around 1pm. To make matters worse, we got off at the wrong station. Thankfully, it was a short walk to our hostel.

There was some confusion with our rooms, as ours was currently being doused with kerosene to ward off the insects from the nearby garden. We were only there long enough to drop our bags off and shower off a layer of bus grime before lunch anyway.

... Once across the dam there were equally stunning views across to the Andes also. While heading back down to the bus a few of us decided to get our fortunes told by picking out a pendant and having the man read the inscription on the pendant.
