Madaba, Jordan netsrotj... is apparently not the time to arrive in the Middle East so i have to wait until October.

---

Today:
I began my journey to work at 9:30 am since I was trying to cash a traveler's check before hand but the hours of business are all messed up during Ramadan. So 9:30. Amman sort of developed around eight circles that head from east to west (they are basically roundabouts that serve as landmarks). I live between the 5th and 4th circle and my ...
Amman, Jordan justajaunt... us going down steep and treacherous hills in a coach thats breaks were squealing the whole entire trip. Not only that, there were no guard rails and a few feet past a dirt lump is a shear drop off. Other people recalled this road being similar to ones they had seen in South America in the Andes, but a bit safer. Having not been there I was a bit freaked, but we made it down safe with no problems after about 10 minutes of winding curves.
<br ...
Madaba, Jordan jeremystravels... a dish dash and kouffieh – traditional Arab clothing - off the street in downtown Amman along with Stijn, Haakon and Alex and shopping with Haakon for a traditional Arabic dress for Lena
~All of us wearing our new clothing out for our last night on the town as a tour group (and to celebrate Sarah and Mikaela's birthdays) in the "hip" and modern part of Amman and getting way more looks/stares as a tourist than in ...
Amman, Jordan texaspeyton... center. This place had a church that we believe was called the Virgin Mary church. This center also had part of the old Roman road and many mosaics of the tree of life. Many of the mosaics at this center also included animals and people with long hair bound in a clasp with large almond shaped eyes.

We then walked to the next church and looked at all the different shops along the road. It was hot out, about 85 F and some of the Arab ...
Madaba, Jordan marytangram... arrived at breakfast and oh great another Middle Eastern breakfast again! After breakky we headed back down to our room, packed our bags, cleaned our teeth and then met the others back up at the reception. Once we were all there it was onto the bus for the final time of our trip.

We started heading north from Petra towards Karnak castle, one of the castles that was used a lot in the crusades. This was our first Arabian castle. We arrive at the top of ...
Madaba, Jordan dkjohansen... talked to by a Bedouin woman who was very nice at first, but then seemed to try to tell us that Kristen couldn't go forward without a head scarf as a means for selling us a guide up the trail which culminated in the high point of sacrifice... Needless to say, she absolutely didn't need a head scarf and we absolutely didn't need a guide. Kristen was quite put off, but I don't really blame the woman for trying to make a buck. She certainly was hospitible in other ways ...
Amman, Jordan jimmyandkristen... south america pics. Next thing you know, its time to go...

As is often the case, goodbyes are anticlimatic but hard. I really hope I see some of our tour mates again. We felt bummed being the 1st ones to leave, but then again most of those who had chose to stay an extra day had no idea what they were going to do as our hotel is far from everything.

So, I'll do one last entry to sum up everything and...thats it!
Amman, Jordan randy_from_nb... as they will be part of the high school student council next year. After listening to the speeches and gathering up the ballots, we took a MS team picture. It was the first time we were all together to take one! Oh, I also got a nice plaque thanking me for my MS StuCo work so that was nice and quite a suprise! Maha I. and went to Sweifiyah to do a little shopping after school. I needed to order a ...
Amman, Jordan kcroone... had sourced and sorted dozens of different colours of stone to create the images. It was incredible – after years of watching Better Homes and Gardens, I never thought I’d be excited about mosaics, but the day has come!

After visiting the church, we walked down the road to the archaeological park, where there were lots more mosaics all over the floors and walls, and a big roman road. They had preserved a huge ancient ...
