... uncomfortable travel of the trip. It may actually not have been as hot as it has been at other times, but we were below sea level, and I think that accentuated the discomfort factor.

... for half of the route into the mountainous terrain, there was a drop on one side of the roadway giving a sweeping vista of the valley (which at least one of us enjoyed!!), Roisin maintained her focus at all times remaining calm and only swearing occasionally (and not at me) but at our means of transport!!

... our visit with Abu-Ali we continued on our way to Karak Castle, another from the crusades. We had a walk through there and learnt a bit about its history. For our last full day in Jordan we decided to take in the sites of Madaba known as the 'City of Mosaics'. After negotiating our way through a street full of tourist shops we made our way to the Archeological Centre which is a series of preserved ruins constructed on either side of a preserved Roman road including Church of the Virgin and Church of the Prophet Elijah. We see numerous refugees that have fled the war in Syria. Well over half a million have come into Jordan, and many live in tent shelters with UN badges on them. Some have brought their goats or camels with them and continue their livelihood's in Jordan, others I guess are just waiting to return home, if they ever can.
