... it was a peaceful day. We are parked very close to the banks of a forest so it is quite pretty with the fall colors and the beaches just a few yards away. We saw a bobcat slinking through the woods this morning and then an eagle fished by our starboard side. Also a few small ducks and a heron hung out by the boat most of the day. ... Park. We ended up going about 74 miles today, far more than we wanted to go. Pumping, dumping and locking down and then cruising for about 8 hours made for a very long day. It was surely a lot further than we wanted to go but unfortunately there are not many good places to drop anchor beyond Decatur, at least until you get to Wheeler Dam.
