... and bathroom and cooking stuff so we popped out to get some food for breakfast and stuff and then went for a chinese. I must admit after weeks and weeks of eating med food it was nice to have something a little different chicken fried rice has never tasted so good lol. After the meal we popped for a walk to the lake but it was really dark and we couldnt see much so we are waiting till tomorrow to have a good look around.

It's a layer of cream (1/2 an inch) and a thick layer of vanilla custard (2 inches) sandwiched bewteeen sheets of delicate crispy crust! yummm yum yum..

We took home the dessert because it was Myra's birthday today!! yay! and we are ready to celebrate. We bought 5 bottles of wine today and we are ready to celebrate!... Cant remember the rest of the night......

Bled, Slovenia marychi... we go in Europe we seem to be surrounded by music weather it be classical, interpretive or just a simple accordion played by someone who just likes the sound. On trains we have heard people singing just for the love of it and in our campsite as we sit here and type this it still persists. Never have we experienced such a love of music. How we hope it continues throughout our trip. Tomorrow at 5.30 am we are off to see more of Slovenia, Piran is our destination.
Bled, Slovenia dinoshona... mountains to gaze upon. I quickly checked Ian and Mario's faces to see if they were in a similar state of excited anticipation... Ian definitely was but Mario was reading. He's a hard man to impress. Bled is a postcard pretty lakeside town. Arriving on Sunday we were surprised at how busy the place was, lots of people out walking around the lake, boats being rowed out to the small island and cafes full to the brim. What was happening? We thought it ...
Bled, Slovenia francethedance... they had been told about Americans, but we still clearly lagged behind them. On the train ride I did some reading about the history and culture of Slovenia. I am surprised at how prosperous the country is, and apparently has historically been. When it entered the European Union Slovenia met the economic requirements to immediately adopt the Euro. While I was there, I had a difficult time seeing it as part of the Balkans, and yet we ate a ...
Bled, Slovenia smr25... paikkansa. Taalla on niskat kovilla.
Ljubljana, Slovenia oskari... all around the old center of Maribor, showed us the oldest grape vine in the world (it's just over 400 years old and still producing!!) and took us to a great place for lunch. It was raining steadily in Maribor so it was hard to get a full appreciation for what is clearly and interesting place. We headed back to Ljubljana in the evening and had a light supper at a tea shop in the ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia kevinandstephne... we found a club quite close to the center but with it being sat night it was quite expensive (similar to british prices and a bit more on some drinks). that also meant (i think) that most people were slightly older than we were. despite this we still had quite a good night. dunc's thinking of travelling alone next year, so he wanted to see what it was like for a week before doing a while trip, so he left us (me and ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia dipal88... 1.5 km before reboarding the train and back to the warm outside air. I would highly recommend the trip. Accommodation was in a room in someones tidy home, their small gardens and flower boxes are stunning. The next day we headed to the Soca valley - if we think NZ water is clear - this takes it to another level. The valley has high rocky mountains and beautiful rivers - every corner presented a new photo opportunity. We stopped at a town called ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia car0doug... where we had been given a recommendation by Jarred and Lisa (who we met in July in Prague) to camp... well the campsite (Camp Milna) was stunning and right on the beach but it was closed and again felt abandoned. We had some breakfast (an apple) on the beach and then went for a walk around the campsite... we were excited to find the shower blocks open etc and looked forward to the idea of coming back tonight to a nice shower (not that showering in Misty is not nice !!). We then kept ...
