We spent Saturday, March 1st in a town near Brussels (i say it's near because Belgium is so small that everything is near). The medieval city of Bruges was discovered in the early 1900s. The city was left sometime in the medieval ages (1500 - 1700). It was well preserved so nearly all the buildings are still original. ... grote market we were earlier in the day to find thousands of people painted in colours watching Belgium play soccer on tv ... It was very loud and exciting as Belgium beat Serbia 3-1. We found a spot on a patio called notre-dame Quasimodo which was right beside the stodht haus. Let's just say a large Stella was 2 Euros and delicious! The dinner, company and the walk home was very memorable and enjoyable. Tomorrow we get rid of our car ... Here we come again ...

... a wall reaching almost as high as I can see and we are stationary now. Most of our travel is at night, so I will see less of the riverside than I expected, but on the Rhine there is some daytime travel.

No breakfast tomorrow morning for me and plenty of walking planned for the afternoon. Our city walks are rather leisurely and even then some have requested “gentler walks” which they are getting tomorrow. Did I mention that many are from US. ...
