More palm oil trees - but not mine
After breakfast Jai starts baking some bread and cake. Just after she starts they come around killing the mosquitoes again and we quickly rush to close off the kitchen doors as petrol smoke engulfs the house.

A controlled (?!) burn
Spend about three hours working at the farm this morning taking advantage of another cool start to the day.
In the afternoon Jai's nephew Tia comes to see us and buys six trees from Jai's woodland to make a house for his sister in law. He needs cash so Jai also buys some of his rice from him at an advantageous price. We now have more than enough boiling rice as well as sticky rice; in fact about 1000kg !!!

Still no rice compensation !!
I bike out to the farm after breakfast and start the job of clearing the grass, weeds, etc that have grown again since we first cleared the land.
When I get back to the house I find that Jai has planted out some cabbage that was the only thing to have survived in the garden this year. About half the garden is now full so it looks a little better than before.

First day of winter ?
It actually feels a bit cold this morning for the first time this year - all relative of course. I bike into Phon Thong for an internet session then do a bit of shopping before heading back to the village.
It is cremation day for the funeral party and Jai leaves just after lunch. Later I hear a loud explosion as a firework goes off to announce that they are leaving the house. ...
Happy Birthday King
Today is the King's birthday so banks etc are closed today but life in the village goes on as usual, except that the schools are closed.
I go for a haircut and must now weigh a couple of kilos less !
After lunch I take Jai and neighbour Ang to Wan's house so that they can all go together to continue helping with the funeral preparations - mainly ...
