Day 46: June 12 Castaway Island aka Modriki Island

... the island another try.  It was much more beautiful despite the Jelly Fish.  Sure, enough I have a stinging sensation all over my entire body as I swim out about 50 yards.  It is kind of a freaky feeling and I rush into the shore and do the same sand scrub that I did before.  I think they got me this time, but only have a few mosquito like bumps on my arms.

It is time to go and we sadly say goodbye to Modriki Island.  I think that I could stay there for a ...

Day 43: June 9th We arrive in Fiji

... sand compared to the dark sand on our beach.  Our hotel has unique pool architecture, a sea wall with lawn chairs, cabanas and other huts overlooking the beach and a swim area.  We can walk to the Sheraton next door to sit on a beach without the sea wall. There are windsurfers, kayaks and hobie cats that we can take out for sailing.  Various excursions can be arranged via guest services such as jet skis, diving, snorkelling, parasailing or trips to neighboring islands.  I could not ask for for.

Back to island life

... beach myself collecting bits to make some pieces. There is soon a large group of us all determined to get something decent made, including bangles and rings made from cocnut and pendants too. I have found a large seed on the beach and have made it into a necklace for kim and everybody then decides that they want one too, so i head back to the beach to pick more up and make them for a bunch of others. This carries on all morning and by the time lunchtime rolls around we have had a ...

... and steroids. Slept and slept. As it stands, I'm still in recovery - still kinda weak - but doing loads better, staying in a hostel for a few days. I've been invited to spend Xmas with a Fijian family and their 60 something 1st cousins, along with a few other travelers so that should be a blast. Just to name a few wonderful things I've done so far: Snorkeling and scuba diving (20 meters down!) through caves and schools of magnificent fish ...

A holiday to Fiji

... www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8myV-3R 8sc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mY5XtoK RD8&feature=related After leaving Beqa Lagoon with all limbs intact we headed further along the coast and met up with Naomi`s friend Sarah and her Fijian boyfriend also called Mark. We were invited to Marks brothers home in a remote village somewhere where we were luckily enough to experience a traditonal Fijian meal which is cooked in the ground. It was truely great night with great ...

Die beiden haben sich aber noch ein paar mal gestritten. An unserem Raum liefen ueberall wilde Katzen rum, eklige Biester (sorry, waren sie wirklich), total duerr und frech. ... to go snorkelling but it started to rain again and the visibility wasn't great (not that there was much to see) I think once you've snorkelled the Great Barrier Reef nothing will ever compare! I was shocked at how little respect the trip staff had for the reef, it was completely different to Australia where you're prepped before you go about not touching the Reef due to how long it takes to grow, but these guys were bashing the reef with a huge tree ...

Stop Fiji-ting

... a 'Flashpacker' resort, whatever that's supposed to mean. Flasher than a backpacker?), so we got ourselves a dorm, rather than a room. There were only two more people in it though, and they left after the first night, so we pretty much had a private room anyway. It seemed quite nice, if a little under populated, giving it more of a resort-out-of-season feel than a quiet relaxed place by the sea. We had a bite to eat, then an 'egg-tossing' contest on the beach was announced ...
