... like? I have no friggin' idea. I've been trying to research it on the internet but have come up with very little as to what kind of life we'll be living there. Which is one of the reasons I've decided to revive the travel blog and maybe somewhere down the line, someone else is moving to Salalah and will actually have some idea of what it's like before they get there. Here's hoping it's good!

-M
I built walking robots in college as an Electrical Engineering student. So, naturally I had to find some robots while I was in Japan!...

You'd think it would be easy; they must be walking around the streets everywhere. Well, I ...
Fukuoka, Fukuoka, Japan swami_worldtrav... the islands separated and the strait was formed. Think Red Sea. Mojiko had strategic military importance, so it was the focus of several wars and fights over whether this part of Japan would be open to foreign trade (a theme that also affected Nagasaki and Kagoshima). Mojiko had an important role in the banana import market, which anyone who has seen melons selling for $10 to $50 in Japan's supermarkets will ...

Reminds me a bit of that long-neglected hit by Reparata and the Delrons, "Saturday Night Didn't Happen."

Tomorrow is my big hike--I am taking the train to Arita and walking to Hasami, which should be about an hour's walk, maybe longer. Thanks to computer mapping, I have a good map of the route, including the locations of convenience stores along the way. Hasami is a town where there's a company, Hakusan, that makes ...
Saga, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan rbfromnjWe stayed in Fukuoka for one night as we were getting the Beetle at 9am in the morning from the port here. We knew it was a bit of a party town and had many street stalls so went out in the evening for a wander. We walked for miles but ended up back at the first street stall we saw as it had a good view and seemed busy enough that it was ok to eat in!! Sat down and got noodles as we couldn't decide ...

Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan bharden... quasi impossibile perdersi.
Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan planetvale... it was quite simply stunning. There was even a swan gliding on the water...a beautiful sight with the cherry blossom trees in the background, and some fallen petals floating on the pond. It was a dream start to my trip, and I could have stayed for longer, but I wanted to continue on to Fukuoka... After a further five hour train journey, I arrived...and immediately got lost! I had printed out very detailed instructions on how to get to the ...
Fukuoka, Japan rich... interaction with the locals as I can in class. None the less, I felt weak about withdrawing, that I had failed myself in some way. My thoughts and emotions on the subject are complex, as you can tell I'm sure. Josh and I tried to get an international pay phone working in the lobby so that I could call K.L.I. I spent much of the time staring off into space and thinking rather than doing much in the way of helping. In the end we didn't have any luck with it and I said that I'd call from ...

She was primarily responsible for the strong improvement in my Japanese from beginning of April until the end of June, especially with ...
