          Sand Duning

A travel blog entry by meclayt on Mar 01, 2015

After 25 hours of travel and a whopping 5 hours of sleep, we got up for a tour through UAE. I will save the city for the next few days while Deep is at work. Our driver picked us up with another passenger from France. We drove out of Dubai and headed inland. The landscape turned from amazing modern architecture, sky scrapers, and construction cranes to a barren desert landscape spattered with bushes and camels roaming around grazing on dry branches and leaves. ...

Proper dune bashing adventure to the campsite, with only about 4 getting stuck instances!

Really nice area to camp and got there just in time for sunset, weather perfect now.

After two days in Dubai, I was ready to see more of this region, so I booked a tour to visit two of the other emirates, Sharjah and Fujairah. I usually don't like to do tours; I like to adventure on my own. However, since I'm completely unfamiliar with this area and the drivers are crazy, I thought a tour was the best way to go.

One of the really interesting and confusing things about the United Arab Emirates is that the capital city of each emirate has the same name ...

November 2, Wahiba sands, Back home via Hatta pools

Time to get back home, but not without visiting the beautiful red sand dunes of Wahiba area… in fact, their color is called « strawberry red »… very different from the dunes of Namibia. Here, it would appear that only the top layer is red, underneath the golden sand…gorgeous with its rippled effects. Lance wants to drive deeper into the desert…but will ...
