Yesterday, we left Saguira by the 8.15am bus, farewelled by Kento who waved us off and also by Mr Abe, who gave us a sealed packet of Saguira sand as a souvenir of our time in his fishing village. We had the same bus driver as the day before and we were given a warm greeting by the two ladies who again boarded the bus (we think they must work in Izumo Taishan). Once more we made our slow and careful way up, over, and down the mountains until we reached ...

We took the 8.15am bus the next day back to Izumo Taisha (and the same hairy bus ride as the day before - only one bus route in and out) so we could go and see the Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.

... with a little bit of help, created some very nice pieces of Japanese pottery. Ethan was proclaimed the pottery king! After we did the pottery we were given special macha tea and Sakura sweet, wrapped in a leaf from a cherry blossom tree. They then gave us some of their pottery. They were such lovely generous people! Everyone here has been so friendly and welcoming. It will be a shame to leave so ...

This morning after a quick trip to the post office to stock up on some money we caught the Lakeline bus to the castle. The bus was a very cute old fashioned tram. The castle was incredible. We were so lucky to get there with the cherry blossoms in full bloom and a lovely warm sunny day. We even luckily saw a ninja there and had some photos taken. Saw another two weddings there too, people must love the photo ops with ...
