... right next to us and they actually reserved 2 spots. They then removed the place marks and seated us in the 2 spots that had been reserved! Oh, Oyama-san must have reserved those seats for us. "Sugoi" I thought! Erika eventually noticed that on the other side of my seat was a fish tank full of lobsters, fish and a fairly large moray eel! ... just salivating at the thought of kiting here. There was fortunately or unfortunately (however way you want to see it) no wind. We then headed to the ferry that would take us to Kanoya, where my family lives. Once on the other side, Brian was of course anxious to find out where he could kite. ... than you'd expect, with plush leather seats that recline, hidden tables in the armrests, and they even swing round at the press of a foot lever, so you never have to travel backwards!

After using the handy long journey to catch up with some blog-writing, and admiring the scenery from the train window, we arrived in Kagoshima – and from then on everything was just suddenly awesome.

... the Peace Museum and Peace Park. The people were extremely warm
and included a welcoming female Drum Band at the dock, a ceremony presenting a plaque to our ship's Captain, and a second (on board) drum ceremony performed by young adults.
Kagoshima (Chiran) was the Samurai Center during Japan's feudal period and was the home base for kamikaze pilots during WW2.
