Went to our first Waffle House (sounds more native if you don't pronounce any of the syllables), a greasy spoon diner. All the staff were very stressed cooking our food just in front of us. People were still allowed to smoke. Felt like a diner stuck in the 80s. Found out that I'd won some money on the lotto, a small fortune at £25. Drove on to Asheville a country town on the border of North Carolina. Pulled off the freeway to do some more country driving, try to see ...
... with a disposable BBQ so we grabbed some meat and beers and races up the famous blue ridge parkway- a famous 469 mile scenic route that follows the mountain ridge from north Virginia to South Carolina. ... br sab="853">After a very full day of rubbing noses with the Vanderbilt’s, we drove back to the hotel and ate at the restaurant next door – Waffle House! Also my first visit there. But apparently every SEC city has one except College Station so we felt it was appropriate to eat at one on our SEC Road Trip.
