Today was supposed to be a rain day so we planned things that didn't require good weather. As it turned out it was a beautiful day - probably over 19 degrees!! We started out at the Folk Center - many great pieces from local artisans including quilting, pottery, paintings, woodworking, jewellery no more. Then we drove to the Builtmore Estate - home of the Vanderbuilts. We didn't actually see it ... A very ...

We wanted to go to the top of the highest point in the eastern states ( Mt. Mitchell 6647ft high). Upon ...

Finally found The Green Room for coffee and a muffin.....the other 2 coffee places were pretty grotty. I bought a red fleece vest at the Mast General store...kind of a general store/ outdoors clothing store. We drove on the Brevard and it was very nice...more sophisticated with nicer shops and Restaurants. We counted ...

Day 5

... pictures. It was pretty amazing how far you could see. The actual peak of the mountain was blocked off. Apparently, you could access it years ago, but they no longer allowed it. Justin ended up going anyway and climbed the rest of the way up! I was nervous but I knew he'd be fine. Then we had a long trip back home, and once we got to the bottom of the mountain, we switched and I drove the car. We decided to pick up ...
