... decided to go for a morning jog. Running along paved paths from my hotel, I cut a winding trail through bamboo forests and cedar trees to emerge by the side of a large mountain lake, glittering in the morning sun.

Continuing on through the day, I made a tour of some of the more popular destinations nearby, including one of the largest botanical gardens in japan, a glass museum (featuring Chihuly!) and even ...

However, with our lack of Japanese and hangover from our mad1 the night before we found ourselves missing stops, being on completely the wrong platform and doubling our journey time to an impressive 4 hours. When we finally reached our hotel nestled in the mountainous Hakone resort, ...

... in a pool, before heading out to the bay in the afternoon. Scuba diving, for those who haven`t done it, comes highly recommended: we saw an array of catfish, electric blue and orange fish, a few eels, lionfish, lots of cool stuff, even though the visibility was at times limited.
Unfortunately the journey home was less fun: it started badly when Gabe, his head still full of salt water and slightly dizzy after the pressure changes, got car sick and vomited. It got worse when we ...
